Here is a complete version.A 35-year-old man and a 4-year-old boy were killed when the Ford Taurus station wagon they were traveling in collided with a dump truck on Route 100 May 20.
Police said Jesse J. Denton, 35, of 319 N. Front St., Reading, and his 4-year-old passenger identified by the Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim as Dominic R. Stauffer of the same address, were taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital where they were pronounced dead.
According to Grim, Denton died at 10:12 a.m. from multiple blunt force trauma. Stauffer died at 9:55 a.m. from blunt force trauma to the head.
Police said Denton was traveling south on Route 100 around 9:20 a.m. when for an unknown reason he traveled into the northbound lane and was struck by a dump truck operated by Frederick J. Stauffer, 55, of Barto. The crash happened about 50 yards south of Barto Road.
After impact both vehicles traveled off the road and came to rest in the yard of 1292 Route 100.
The fuel tank of the Mack dump truck ruptured, causing a minor fire which was extinguished.
Police said everyone involved in the crash was wearing seat belts.
Both Denton and his 4-year-old passenger, Dominic R. Stauffer, were rescued from the Ford Taurus.
Frederick J. Stauffer, who operated the dump truck, was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital for minor injuries.
Route 100 in the area of the crash was closed down until around 4 p.m., according to the Berks County Communication Center.
Police said the crash is still under investigation.
