Marian A. Evans, 89, formerly of Perry Twp, died Aug. 12, 2008 in The Topton Lutheran Home where she was a resident since March 2008.She was the widow of Joseph T. Evans, who died Dec. 2, 2001.

Born in Greenwich Twp., she was a daughter of the late Solon and Senora (Wiltrout) Wanner.

She was a housewife and worked on the family farm, milking cows, gardening, and canning, which she enjoyed very much.

Marian was a member of the Mohrsville Church of the Bretheren and a 50-plus-year member of the Virginville Grange.

During the 1930s and 1940s, she was a country singer with The Jolly Cowgirls, performing throughout Berks County.

She is survived by three daughters: Helen A., wife of Dwight S. Wanamaker, Kempton, Pauline M., wife of Rick L. Monyer, Perry Twp., and Joan M., wife of David W. Weller, Longswamp Twp.

Other survivors include 10 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, James M. Evans in 1966 and also a brother, George Wanner.

Funeral services were held Saturday Aug. 10 in Mohrsville Church of the Bretheren. Burial was in Viewpoint Cemetary, Center Twp.

Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc., Hamburg, was in charge of arrangements.
