Emergency crews responded to a tractor trailer collision on Interstate 78 in Greenwich Township at 5:35 p.m. on Jan. 13.State Police in Hamburg reported that a tractor trailer operated by Frank T. Grubic, 45, of Harrisburg, hit a disabled tractor trailer driven by Bradley J. Page, 36, of Hamilton.
Page had pulled his disabled vehicle off the road to the right, but was still partially on the road when Grubic, traveling 60 miles per hour in a 55-mile-per-hour zone in the right lane, approached the disabled vehicle.
Page had his four-way flashers activated on the disabled vehicle, but he had not placed his emergency triangles behind his vehicle at the time of the accident.
Another vehicle was traveling in the passing lane at the time and Grubic was unable to avoid the disabled vehicle.
After initial contact, Grubic traveled 87 feet and then struck a median barrier. The vehicle jack-knifed before coming to a stop. Then the cab separated from the frame and traveled another 72 feet before coming to a rest.
The disabled vehicle was pushed 36 feet after contact.
No one was injured.
Grubic was charged with driving a vehicle at a safe speed.
