Army Pvt. John A. Noll has graduated from Basic Combat Training at FortSill, Lawton, Okla.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.
Noll earned distinction as an honor graduate.
He is the son of Larry and Carol Noll of Oak St., Hamburg.
The private graduated in 2006 from Hamburg Area High School.
Army National Guard Capt. Dana M. Howett and Army National Guard Spec. Andy K. Gingrich Jr. have been mobilized and activated at Joint Base Dix-McGuire-Lakehurst, N.J., in preparation for deployment to serve in support of either Operation New Dawn or Operation Enduring Freedom.ˆ The soldiers are members of the 131st Transportation Company, Williamstown, Pa.
The soldiers are normally activated from Army Reserve or Army National Guard units from throughout the U.S.ˆ They go through a series of in-processing procedures and training classes that prepare them for skills and situations they may face in their deployed environment.
Both Howett and Gingrich have 14 years of military service.
Howett graduated in 1997 from Hamburg Area High School and received a bachelor's degree in 2001 from Mansfield University, Pa.
Gingrich is a 1994 graduate of Tulpehocken High School.
