The Birdsboro American Legion baseball team dropped three games last week in the Berks League. The Orioles are currently 1-6 in league play and 4-8 overall.On Wednesday, June 11, the Orioles played host to Muhlenberg. The two teams played a close game throughout but the Athletics broke a 2-2 with a run in the top of the eighth, then added two more in the ninth to defeat the Orioles, 5-2.
Toby Davis led the Birdsboro offense with a head and two RBIs, while Rubino had two of the team's nine hits.
James Brown was the losing pitcher, allowing three runs on 11 hits and no walks in eight innings of work. He fanned four along the way.
On Thursday, June 12, the Orioles traveled to Morgantown to take on the newly-formed program from Twin Valley. Twin Valley scored five times in the bottom of the first and never looked back as they defeated the Orioles, 14-6.
Birdsboro was unable to stop the hot bat of Twin Valley's Brian Horning as he had three hits including a three-run homer and five RBIs.
Davis had a pair of hits (a single and a double) as Birdsboro managed just five as a team.
Jeff Lenhart took the mound loss.
On Sunday, June 15, the Orioles traveled to Topton and came home with a 7-1 loss. Birdsboro's only run came in the ninth inning as the Orioles had just four hits in the game.
One of those hits was a double by Jason Henderson
Henderson was also the losing pitcher.
On Saturday, June 14, the Orioles were rained out in a game against Schuylkill Valley. No make-up date has been announced yet.
