Northern Berks Ministerium

An Advent Series will take place on Thursdays through December. Worship services begin at 11:30 AM, followed by a soup buffet. Freewill offerings will benefit the Ministerium’s outreach assistance fund. The schedule: Dec. 6 at St. Mary Church (Tilden); Dec. 13 at Zion Lutheran (Perry); Dec. 20 at Friedens Church (Shartlesville).

Monthly Faith at the Movies at the Hamburg Strand Theater continues. Admission includes a small drink and popcorn and a donation to the Ministerium fund. Movies begin at 7 p.m. On Dec. 11 see “The Fourth Wise Man” (1985).

Zion Moselem Lutheran Church, 340 Moselem Church Road, Kutztown

Christmas Open House on Dec. 8 from 2 to 8 p.m. Come tour our historic church, farm house, and school house. You can also enjoy music from our 1770 rare Tannenberg organ. Light refreshments will be provided. Free to the public.

St. Michael’s Church, Hamburg

A free spaghetti dinner is Dec. 8 from 5-7 p.m. Meal includes meatballs, salad, Italian bread, beverage & dessert. Please invite your neighbors, those in need, and your family. Free children’s meal toy for every child. Any donations go to Food For The Poor or Northern Berks Food Pantry!

Dec. 9, we worship at 10:15 a.m. The bell choir, under the direction of Elaine Balthaser, will play before worship. We celebrate the Second Sunday of Advent with pew distribution of Holy Communion. Come partake of the Lamb of God who takes away the Sin of the world, happy are those who are called to His supper. Debbie Buzzard will lead the Sunday School children in a song before the children’s sermon. The annual congregational meeting will follow worship with the election of congregational council members, voting on investment for land preservation money and the 2019 ministry plan. If there is bad weather, the congregational meeting will be Dec. 16 after worship.

St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran “Smoke” Church, Hamburg

Join us every Sunday morning at 9 a.m. for worship service. The worship service is followed with a fellowship time with refreshments. Sunday school starts at 10:15. The acolyte for Dec. 9 is Ian Fink. The lector is Howard Speck.

The first Sunday of the month we meet directly after the worship service for healing and individual needs with laying on of hands, if desired.

St. John's Lutheran Church, 99 Church St., Hamburg

Red Kettle Benefit Concert at 4 p.m. on Dec. 9. Doors open 3:30 p.m. Free and open to the public. Concert features Salvation Army Pen-Del Ensemble, Choral groups and local musical talent. Free will offering will be taken during the concert to benefit the Hamburg Salvation Service Center. Light refreshments served after concert.

Salem EC Church, Lenhartsville

Our Worship Service was held at 9 am, followed by Sunday School for all ages at 10:30 am. Pastor Dave presented an inspiring message based on the Bible. Our greeters were Kevin and Sandy Towles.
