Born in Kearny, N.J., he was a son the late Franklin W. and Jessica (Coe) Kennedy.
He was an electrical engineer for American Transformer, Newark, N.J., from 1948 to 1950; Marco Electric, Buffalo, N.Y. and Womelsdorf, from 1950 to 1961; and Leece Neville, Gainesville, Ga., from 1961 to 1962; executive vice president at Marco Electric, Womelsdorf, from 1962 to 1983; and a loan officer at State Capital Bank, Reading, from 1984 to 1985.
Kennedy taught electrical engineering at Penn State-Berks Campus from 1986 to 1994.
He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Shillington.
Kennedy was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving on a destroyer escort.
He was an Eagle Scout; a 1940 graduate of Kearny High School; and graduate of Cornell University, where he received his bachelor's degree in 1947, and master's degree electrical engineering in 1947.
He was a volunteer committeeman for Boy Scouts of America, Grill; Stardusters Square Dance caller from 1970 to 1991; and a volunteer at the library of the Berks County Historical Society, Gruber Wagon Works and Heister Canal Center at the Heritage Center for more than 19 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Wayne B. Kennedy, and wife, Debra, Columbia; and Gary P. Kennedy, and wife, Jan, Mansfield, Ohio.
Other survivors include a brother, Edwin C. Kennedy, Tyler, Texas. There are also four grandchildren: Stephen, Aaron, Sylvia and Austin.
A Celebration of Life Service was Thursday at 11 a.m. in Immanuel United Church of Christ, 99 S. Waverly St., Shillington, PA 19607, with the Rev. John E. Fureman and the Rev. Megan K. Huesgen officiating.
