The Quakertown Soccer Club U10 Crushers recently played at the Kids Peace tournament in Schnecksville, PA. It was an exhilarating tournament with the Crushers finishing in second place. The first match up was a tough one against Parkland Premier. Ryan Leatherman and goalkeepers, Dalton Frederick and Jake Graham, played outstanding defense with the game ending in a 0-0 tie. The second game against South Parkland resulted in a 3-0 win. Goals were scored by Jacob Rudloff (2) and Tyler Kelsh.With one tie and one win, the team was tie for first place in their division. A penalty shootout was necessary to determine the first place division winner. The Crushers excelled under the pressure. Kevin Finlayson, Jake Graham, Zach Korpics and Dakota Suchanec all scored goals to win the shootout. The team then went on to play in the semi-finals against Blue Mountain. A goal scored by Zach Korpics ended the game in a 1-1 tie. Again, the team won the penalty shootout with goals by Kevin Finlayson, Jake Graham and Zach Korpics. Dalton Frederick did an outstanding job in both shootouts as goalkeeper. Others contributing to the win with their exceptional play were Steven Hippauf, Blake Meyers, Richard Bittner and Brendan Rosenberger.
The team lost in the finals but showed tremendous team effort and spirit. They are looking forward to an exciting fall season.
