Ray. E. Pensinger, Sr., 98, of Pensinger Lane, Mertztown, died Aug. 25, 2008 in the Kutztown Manor, Kutztown, where he had been a resident since Jan. 30, 2005.He was the husband of Kathryn E. (Derr) Pensinger. They were married on Dec. 28, 1929.
Born in Longswamp Township on May 2, 1910, he was a son of the late William G. and Emma E. (Baron) Pensinger.
He was a member of St. Peter's UCC, Topton, where he served as a deacon and elder for many years.
He was a self employed general insurance agent from 1956 until retiring in 1979. Prior to that he worked at the former Caloric Corporation during the 1940s; the former Rohrbach's Mill during the 1950s, both of Topton, and was a part-time farmer.
He was a former Master of Pioneer Grange #1777, Topton, and served as its treasurer in the 1970s; and, he was president of the Topton Senior Citizens in the 1970s and 1980s.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert L., husband of Daisy M. (Epler) Pensinger; and a daughter-in-law, Sandra L. (Reifinger) Pensinger both of Mertztown.
There are six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandsons and two great-great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by sons Ray E. Pensinger, Jr. and Dale A. Pensinger.
Services were held on Aug. 27, 2008 at St. Peter's UCC Church, Topton, with the Rev. George W. Bahner officiating. Interment with Military Honors was provided by the Ray A. Master, Post #217, American Legion, Honor Guard, Topton, in Topton Union Cemetery.
