Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life service on May 20 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation, 402 Blue Mountain Road, Schuylkill Haven, Schulykill County for Richard Clark "Dick" Bennett. He died May 4 in Reading Hospital. Burial will be private in Riverview Cemetery, East Liverpool, Ohio.Bennett, Wyomissing, was predeceased by his wife, Lynn (Moore) Bennett.

Born in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Abram Clark Bennett and the late Sara (Jones) Bennett.

Bennett served more than 42 years with the Boy Scouts of America. He was executive of Hawk Mountain Council 528 from 1989 until his retirement in March 2007.

He was district executive of East Boroughs Council from 1964 to 1967; Daniel Boone Council, 1967 to 1970; and Minsi Trails Council from 1970 to 1973.

Bennett was program director from 1974 to 1976; senior finance director of the Greater New York Council from 1977 to 1981; and scout executive at the Chester County Council from 1981 to 1988.

He was awarded the God and Country award in 1957; Vigil Honor in 1958; Eagle Scout in 1959; Lodge Chief of the Anicus Lodge and vice chief Area IIIF; Adult Religious Award (Shofar); Order of the Arrow Founders Award, Distinguished Eagle 1910 Society and James E. West Fellow Award.

Bennett was Scoutmaster (course director) Woodbadge and camp director at Twin Echo, Shikellamy, Camp Minsi and Camp Trexler.

He was a past president of the Pittsburgh Jaycees and the Rotary Club of Reading.

Bennett was a Paul Harris Fellow, a 32nd degree mason and a member of Jordan Lodge 673, F&AM; Royal Arch Masons, Jordan Chapter; and Rajah Shrine.

Surviving are a son, Ronald Bennett, Wyomissing; a daughter, Elizabeth A. Taylor, Wyomissing; and a stepson, Jordon Fantini, Granville, Ohio.

There are also three grandchildren.

Other survivors include a sister, Gloria Jean Baacke, Clearwater, Fla.
