Robert W. 'Derby Bob' Conrad, 48, of Lower Heidelberg Township, died Jan. 25, 2011, at St. Joseph's Medical Center.

He was the husband of Kimberly M. (Firestone) Conrad.

Born in Lower Heidelberg Township, he was the son of the late William I. and Cora (Schmehl) Conrad.

He was a 1981 graduate of Wilson High School.

Bob had worked at Lehigh Hansen Heidelberg Cement, Evansville for 11 years.

He loved being a driver in demolition derbies. For the last 28 years he drove in the J & J Demolitions Derbies at the Reading Fair, Allentown Fair, Kutztown Fair, York Fair, Mountain Springs and Pagoda Junk Car Race in Birdsboro.

Other interests included working on classic old cars and antique tractors. He attended public auctions and was known as the quarter man. He also raised chickens, ducks and other poultry. He enjoyed hauling scrape metal and cars to the recycler.

He will be greatly missed by his wife and step children Jason D. Habecker and his wife Tonda of Denver, Pa.; Jeffrey S. Habecker and his wife Heidi of Hamburg, Matthew J. Habecker and friend Jess Rogers of Wernersville; sisters Dorothy M. (Conrad) Yenser of Leesport, Marian L. (Conrad) and husband Gary Maga of Mohnton, Nancy L. Conrad and Ruth A. Conrad both of West Lawn.

There are eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; sister in laws Patti (Firestone) and husband Matthew Brown of Sinking Spring, Rochelle (Firestone) Miller and daughter Jessica of Ephrata; Carol (Firestone) and husband Albert Emck of Ephrata; brother in law Randy C. Weaver and friend Ashlee Mains of Five Pointville.

He was preceded in death by brothers William Conrad, Richard Conrad and sister Mildred (Conrad) Hilbert.

He will be sadly missed by his dog Beau.

Funeral service will be held Jan. 29, at 11 a.m., at the Mae A. Stump Funeral Home, Inc. 117 West Main Street, Fleetwood. A viewing will be 9 a.m. to time of service. Burial will be in Spies-Zion Cemetery.
