Governor Mifflin High School Boys Soccer Team seniors have one goal they would like to accomplish this year, to be crowned county champions. To accomplish their large feat senior Emerich Martin said they plan on working hard and "keeping their eyes on the prize."
The team comprised of a hefty load of 14 seniors were 12-6 overall last year and lost in the second round of districts to Red Land 2-1. The team is coached by Brent Fenstermacher. He has been instructing the squad for 11 years.
Although the Mustangs have historically been competitive in their division, which includes Wilson, Reading and Exeter, this season Fenstermacher would like to reach the county playoff this fall with his "solid senior team."
Key returnees this season are seniors Gibrilla Conde (midfielder), Lucas Blair (midfielder), Jordan Thomas (forward) and Joseph Gingrich (defender).
The team's biggest losses are graduate and goalie Matt Wentzel, Alex Humphrey and Houston Bortz. "Wentzel was one of our biggest losses. He was a very good goalie," said the coach.
New up and coming players are freshmen Quincy Thomas, junior Taylor Greedy and junior Alex Mundell.
