The Woman’s Club of Birdsboro is selling calendars with historic photos of the Brooke Mansion as a fundraiser.
The calendars can be purchased at the Boone Area Library, Birdsboro Beverage, Tompkins VIST Bank in Birdsboro, and Talk of the Town Hair Salon.
The calendars feature photos of the Brooke Mansion when the Brooke family was residing in the home in 1941. Most of the photos are of the interior rooms of the mansion that show the original furnishing and artwork.
The 42-room, Victorian-era mansion dates back to 1887 and has had a colorful history in Birdsboro. The mansion, located off Washington Street, was recently sold at auction by the current owners.
The Woman’s Club of Birdsboro has been creating and selling calendars for 10 years. Previous years show historic photos of Birdsboro neighborhoods and businesses.
The 2019 calendars sell for $10 and previous years are available while supplies last.
“People can’t wait to see the new edition of the calendars every year," said Jody Ewing, project chairman of the Woman’s Club of Birdsboro. "They make great holiday gifts that show the history of Birdsboro.”
The Woman’s Club of Birdsboro began in 1937. It is a nonprofit organization with the purpose of bettering the community. The women host many events throughout the year including a Car Show and Basket Bingo.
The Woman’s Club also offers various scholarships to Daniel Boone High School seniors. Other beneficiaries of the Woman’s Club of Birdsboro are the Boone Area Library, Birdsboro-Union Fire Department, Birdsboro Police Department, and Birdsboro Community Memorial Center.
