Simonds earns Player of the Week honorsBoyertown grad and Bloomsburg University men's soccer player Eric Simonds was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division Player of the Week.

In his team's first two games, he scored two goals, including the first goal of the season just 10 minutes into the first game against Nyack which ended in a 1-1 tie.

He scored his second goal in a 3-1 Blooms-burg win over Concordia.

Boyertown Summerhoops

The Boyertown Summerhoops organization will be holding a kinderkid (boys and girls ages 4-6) instructional basketball class in mid-to late September. The cost is $30 for a six week course and is taught by National Allience of Youth Sports (N.A.Y.S.) certified coach. Coach Phil Haddad will also be holding an instructional kids basketball class for boys and girls ages 7-10 in the late afternoon at a cost is $30 for a six week course. Breast Cancer Awareness Golf Tournament

Sweet Water Golf Course in Pennsburg is hosting a four-person nine hole scramble tournament for Breast Cancer awareness on Saturday, October 4.

The ladies four-person formate starts at 8 a.m. and the mixed couples four-person format begins at 1 p.m.

The deadline for sign-ups is Wednesday, October 1. Entry fee is $30 per person.

Proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
