UPPER BERN - With a unanimous vote, Upper Bern Supervisors approved a move requiring residents to pump their septic tanks every three years at the May 9 meeting.Starting in 2009, residents of Upper Bern Township will need to submit proof to the township that their septic systems are pumped every three years by a licensed professional.

Supervisor Chair Paul Mogel pointed out the regulation was a Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection requirement, and expressed concern that the move would be a burden on some residents.
