To The Editor:On Thursday morning, Sept. 20, our family suffered a devastating loss when fire destroyed our business, Duffer's Distributing. We take the opportunity to thank all the volunteer firemen from the Kutztown, Topton, Lyons and Fleetwood fire companies for their valiant, but futile, attempts to save our building.

We would like to especially thank Chief Troy Arndt and firefighter Stewart Stump for their professionalism and compassion during the ordeal. We would also like to thank the rest of the responders. Our community can be thankful for their support. In addition, our thanks to all our friends, neighbors and customers for their help and concern.

We were most saddened by the loss of our beloved Fannie Mae who succumbed to smoke inhalation and we were touched by all those people who asked about her.

Our plans are to rebuild at the same location and reopen as soon as humanly possible. We look forward to once again serving our loyal customers.

Sincerely, The Bucks family ' Terry, Brenda, Jeff, Kip, Annabelle, Elijan and Abby
