The JK5k is held in memory of Jacob Karnchanaphati, who passed away in the summer of 2015. He had just finished 6th grade at New Hanover Elementary, and was looking forward to trying out for the junior high soccer team.

He had a passion for life, loved being with his family and friends, and could make anyone laugh! Because of his great love of soccer, his parents, Christopher and Michelle Karnchanaphati, started a scholarship in his memory, and award $2,000 to two graduating students each year (one male and one female) who have been part of Boyertown's soccer program for at least two years.

The JK5k directly supports the scholarship, and we were thrilled to have over 325 participants, and 40 volunteers join us this year at the Optimist Football Field and Windlestrae Development. With the support of this incredible community, $15,000 was raised towards the scholarship fund, which we plan to give for many years to come!

The event also included face painting, raffles, a bounce house, DJ Souless, Sweet Aloha Food Truck, lots of food and refreshments, and live music performed by Jacob’s brother, Josh, and his friends.

Race Director, Erin Hovey, stated, "We are so very thankful for all of the friends, families, classmates, teammates, neighbors, teachers and volunteers who spent their morning with us during this wonderful community event! At the top of our list, we want to thank our generous sponsors who helped make the JK5k a success. We could not do it without them."
