-Amy Rothharpt was named the outstanding female athlete of the year for the Daniel Boone 1976-1977 school year. Bill McCrudden and Tom Wocklish shared the male honors.
-MVP's for the Daniel Boone sports teams for the year were, Bill MCrudden, football and baseball, Amy Rothharpt, field hockey, girls' basketball and softball, Tim Shiel, cross country, Tom Wocklish, boys' basketball, Gary Buck, wrestling, Jeff Rohrbach, boys' track and field, Bret Beidler, golf, Debbie Weaver, girls' track and field, and Cindy Shirey, swimming.
-The Birdsboro Legion baseball team lost 4-3 to Hamburg. Tom Miller and Lew Hartenstine both hit home runs for Birdsboro and Frank Lilley performed well on the mound in the losing effort.
-Four area athletes took first in the Berks County Junior Olympics Sectional track and field meet. Paul Koch Jr. was first in the 880 and long jump in the midget boys division. Barbara Koch was first in the 440 and 220, and Holly Surface was first in the mile run in the junior girls division. Judy Koch took first in the 110 meter low hurdles in the intermediate girls division.
-Jim Kirk and Dick Tobias picked up wins in the "Twin 20" lap modified features at the Reading Fairgrounds. Kirk won his first career race with a lap 8 pass of Mike Erb, who finished fourth. Tobias won his 86th career race with another lap 8 pass, this time of Freddy Adam, who was a heat winner earlier in the night.
-The Daniel Boone softball team advanced to the state final four with a 9-8 victory over Elk Lake. Wendy Davis had three hits and two RBIs and Lisa Rowe, Lori Hoffman, and Lisa Shaner each had two hits a piece. Dawn Shaner picked up the mound victory while Davis came on to record the final three outs and pick up the save.
-Chris Lupold and Lin Erb combined for the three hitter on the mound for the Birdsboro Legion baseball team in their 3-1 win over Exeter. Eric Mull had a double, Chris Jaquis had a double and a RBI, and Andy Hass had a RBI for Birdsboro.
-Birdsboro's Legion team also picked up two non-league victories by beating Pottsgrove on a five RBI performance by Curtis Johnson. Any Hass added three hits and an RBI. They also beat Lansdale 9-4 when Chris Kennedy hit a three-run homer.
-Susan Shuey was named Daniel Boone's outstanding female athlete of the year. She was all county and all division in field hockey as a senior, and a second team nominee her junior and senior years for the basketball team. Mark DiMarco took home the male honor. He was 58-7-1 in his career as a wrestler, and was named to the Berks County All-Stars the past two years as a d-lineman for football.
-High School students, Chris Kennedy, Paul Crosby, Mark Kennedy, Jay Daser, John Mackey, and Scott Bill were the six members of the South Birdsboro Archery Rod and Gun Club team that won the Pennsylvania State Hunter Education Shooting Championship at the Valley Gun Club in Ellysburg, PA.
-The Birdsboro Orioles American Legion baseball team beat Exeter 9-3. Nick Mattioni pitched a five hitter and struck out 15 for the win and Toby Ranck and Buddy Hernandez both hit two-run home runs in the eight run first inning for the Orioles. Jason Delewski was 2-4 with two RBIs in the game.
-The Exeter Blue Jays American Legion baseball team did pick up a win with their 2-0 win over Kutztown. Shaun Nye pitched a five hitter with nine K's, and Michael Gombar was 2-3 with a run scored, when Joe DiGuardi laid down a suicide squeeze in the third inning.
-Keri Boyce of Birdsboro was named the MVP of the State Cup championship game for the FC Delco Fear under-15 girls' premier soccer team as they remained undefeated with their slaying of the two-time defending State Cup champions, the Philadelphia Soccer Club 3-1.
