CorrectionLast week the wrong story appeared in Thoughts for this Moment. Below is the story that Rev. Glick submitted.
Be imitators of God
Be imitators of God therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. (Ephesians 5:1)
Who wants to be an imitator? We love name brands because we want the real thing, and we look down on imitations. But, whether we like it or not, we are all imitators. Not much of what we do, think, or say is truly original.
But we can choose who we imitate. The Bible verse quoted above tells us to " Be imitators of God therefore, as dearly loved children". We all know that children imitate. It is how they learn, but what kind of models they have makes all the difference
Little children usually imitate the people they are closest to - the ones they know best, and the key to imitating God is knowing Jesus. Jesus is more than a good example. He is the Savior, but he is also the perfect example. He came as God in human form to show us what God is like and what we can be like.
Can we really live a life of love, especially the kind of love that led Jesus to the cross? Certainly not on our own. To be like Christ, we must have Christ within us. The Bible says we can have the mind of Christ. If we learn to think like Jesus, we will start to act like Jesus.
