Faith Formation for all ages takes place at 9 am Sunday mornings. What is Faith Formation? You know this as Sunday School. It’s about gathering and sharing, learning and listening, questioning and wrestling. It’s about going deeper and forming (or re-forming, or informing) our faith. Currently, the Adult Faith Formation class is exploring the Parables of Jesus. The Confirmation Class is delving into who Jesus is for us today. All are invited to join us!

St. Luke Lutheran Church, 35 Wilson Ave., Gilbertsville

Our 8:30 a.m. Bible Study will be held Sunday. We will meet to explore the lectionary readings of the day. Come to ponder. Come to discuss. Come to listen. Come to learn.

Join us at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday for worship. On Sunday we will celebrate the Fourth Sunday after Epiphany. The choir will sing, “Let Us Love One Another,” by Sherman.

This is also Scout Sunday. We welcome the participation of our scouting family at St. Luke.

The Scout Troop, originally chartered by the Gilbertsville Fire Company in 1934, was later chartered by the Gilbertsville Sunday School in 1939. The troop met in Gilbertsville Elementary School, and dues were 5 cents! In February, 1958, Gilbertsville Scout Troop #1 became Troop #36.

There will be no JAM class on Sunday. The children will be with their families during worship, offering them a chance to learn about Scouting.

There will be fellowship following the service.

The Adult Forum will study first Corinthians, discussing “Whose Am I?” based on Corinthians 1:1-30.

The Property Committee will meet on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. and Worship and Music Committee will meet at 7 p.m.

The Community Clothing Rack will be open on Wednesday for donations from 1-4 p.m.

Handbell Choir will rehearse at 6:30 p.m., and Senior Choir will rehearse at 7:30 p.m.

Boy Scout Troop 511 will sponsor Hoagie Sales February through May on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. Place orders on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. There is ham, turkey, Italian or cheese—lettuce, onion, tomato, sides hot peppers or sweet peppers, Italian or mayo packets. To volunteer and to order as a new person, contact Kitty Isett. David Penman will lead the congregation in worship, present the Children’s Sermon as well as present the Sermon for the morning. Confirmation will be held at 7:45 a.m. in room I. Sunday School for all ages will be held in room B at 8:15 a.m. Those ministering at the 9 a.m. service are Acolyte; Ava Novotny, Lector; Karlene Novotny, Communion Assist: Sue Hoffman and Greeters/Ushers; Sue and Norman Hoffman. Immediately following the worship service, all voting members are encouraged to stay in the sanctuary for the semi-annual Congregational Meeting. We will discuss/approve the 2018 Annual Reports, as well as vote on the Bequest Committee proposal.
