Alsace Township supervisors voted Oct. 3 to borrow an additional $350,000 to fund the Alsace Manor sewer project. The township has already borrowed $650,000 with an interest rate of 4.25 percent.
Contractors have been working on the project for two months and receiving pay from the township, though a $3.2 million state loan, at 1 percent interest, has not yet been delivered.
"We are after them all the time, but we don't get the money. This is a bureaucracy beyond a bureaucracy," Supervisors Chairman Joseph E. Williams reportedly said.
A state official has promised a first payment of $194,000 within two weeks, Williams said.
Each single-family homeowner must pay $6,000 to hook up to the system. The same fee will apply to restaurants with seating for 30 patrons.
