Mike and Linda Hertzog performed the traditional PA Dutch New Year Wishing to ring in the New Year. They were invited to six homes on Dec. 28 and went to five homes on Dec. 29.

Mike and Linda recited the New Year Wish in Pa Dutch and played eight songs at each home. Uncle Jeffrey Tapler recorded the event on Dec. 28 and 29 for his TV station.

On Jan. 4, Mike and Linda were invited by Patrick Donmoyer, Director of Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center at Kutztown University, to appear on BCTV to explain New Year Wishing. Mike recited the New Year Wish in Pa Dutch and they also played some music.

Donmoyer presented the Hertzog's with the Hiwwe Wie Driwwe's Featured Artist of the Year 2019 Award in recognition of the project “Pennsylvanisch-Deitscher Neiyaahrswinsch & Dialect Music.” Donmoyer is the editor of the German Newspaper "Hiwwe Wie Driwwe”. Michael Werner from Ober-Olm, Germany is the publisher of the paper. Werner invited Mike and Linda to Germany in October 2017 during which they played at four concerts in Germany and sang everything in Pennsylvania German.

The Hertzogs will be doing the New Year Blessing on Jan. 13 at Huff's Union Church, 540 Conrad Road, Alburtis (Herford Township) at 10:30 a.m.; Jan. 20 at St. Peter's UCC Church, Molltown at 10:15 a.m.; Jan. 27 at Longswamp UCC Church, Mertztown at 10:15 a.m.; and Feb. 3 at First Reformed Church, 76 South 3rd Street, Hamburg at 10:15 a.m.
