The Daniel Boone Optimist Club has a lot in store for this year's Daniel Boone Community Days.
Community Days will take place today through Sunday at the Lake Drive Recreation Area in Douglassville. The celebration will end on Sunday with a fireworks display at 9 p.m.
The Daniel Boone Optimist Club, an organization that holds community events for the Amity Township area and supports community youths and law enforcement officials, has been holding the event for about 32 years, said Tom Kirchner, a longtime member and past president.
Kirchner said that the event began in 1976, the 200th anniversary of the United States.
Kirchner added that the fireworks display draws in the people.
"The fireworks display will be about 15 minutes long," he said. "It's going to be a good show."
Also on the schedule is a pie eating contest, games and music by the Daniel Boone High School marching band and Exeter community bands.
Kirchner said that members of the Animal Rescue League will be at the event on Sunday night and will be bringing animals for adoption with them.
