Village Library of Morgantown Announces Summer Reading Calendar for 2012

The Honey Brook High School Class of 1941 and Class of 1942 held a joint reunion on Saturday, May 24 at Yoders Restaurant in New Holland.

The Class of 1941 had 12 of its 21 members in attendance, along with guests and spouses. Those attending were Sally White Hillard, Irma Hillard Gehman, Dorothy Buckwalter Overly, Pauline Piersol Dukeman, Kathryn Kern Conrad, Jean Houck Maysilles, Elmer Plank, Alfred Wanner, Dick Harris, Bill Frankhouser, Alvin Leisey and Jane Helms.

Members of the Class of 1941 who were unable to attend were Gladys Spece Sasso, Ellen Houck Leoni, Charlotte Davis Bishop, Elsie Kessler Trego, William Wert, John Grier Means Jr. Four of the class members are deceased. They are J. Wilmer Britton, Dorothy Kuhns, Robert Rock and Donald Hyman.

Those attending from the Class of 1942 were Mary Helen Abbott Leisey. Sue Guiseppe Ford. Dr. Charles Hosler, Janet Newswanger MaGee, Nettie Pesilo Schnure, Bea Paup Fregade, Madelyn Essex Shuler, Myrtle Pfahler Harris, and Donald Dukeman.

Members from the Class of 1942 who were unable to attend were Helen Barr Fry, Martha Brown Barone, Hazel Fisher Higgins, Jean Mast Brown, and Harry Ream. Seven of the class members are deceased. They are Allan Bart Good, Pauline Stauffer Pyle, Richard Brubaker, Jane Buchanan Elvin, Joseph Chisholm, Mary Styer Hall and Helen Ammon Dorsheimer.

Alvin Leisey served as Master of Ceremonies. The speaker was Dr. Charles Hosler, graduate of Honey Brook Class of 1942. He was a professor at Penn State University and is now retired. Penn State named the Earth and Science building after him and it is now known as the Hosler Building. He also was a meteorologist for Channel 10 in Altoona for many years. He reminisced about growing up in Honey Brook and what it was like in grade school and high school in Honey Brook. He also gave them a short lesson on Meteorology, after being asked about the current weather patterns.
