The Caernarvon/Berks Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday evening, December 11th, was one for the record books.

"This has to be the shortest meeting I've ever been to here," said resident Donna Jeffrey.

The Board had a full agenda set up for the evening, but with the absences of Supervisors Lew Gable, Randy McEwen and Jim Beam, the Board had to hustle to handle one item on their agenda.

"We had to get the 2002 budget approved," said Chairman Paul Whiteman. "I didn't realize that we would have three supervisors out at one time."

Gable and McEwen had previous obligations and Beam had a death in the family.

Chairman Whiteman managed to reach Beam and asked him to come in for the ten- minute meeting.

"I hated calling Jim but he understood and we were glad to get the budget approved," said Whiteman.

With that, the Board approved their budget for the upcoming year and the meeting was soon adjourned. The budget calls for funds in the amount of $1,140,664, and increase of $150,000 over the budget for 2001.

"It is a relief to have that (the budget) done and over with for the year," said Whiteman.

With the holidays taking place on Tuesdays this year, the remaining agenda items will be addressed at the next board meeting which will be held on January 8, 2002 at 7:30 p.m.
