Nancy Nelson V.M.D. has joined the staff of Country Companion Animal Hospital, Morview Drive in Morgantown. For the keepers of exotic birds such as macaws, parrots, cocatoos or any other birds of a feather, Nelson might come as a life saver. There are very few veterinarians in the region who are qualified to care for our feathered friends.
Dr. Nelson is a 1978 graduate of Twin Valley High School. She earned her Bachelor of Science in 1982 at Ursinus and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. Prior to coming to Country Companion Animal Hospital, she was at Wilmington Animal Hospital from 1987 to 1990, Cacoosing Animal Hospital, Wernersville, Penna. from 1990 to 1993, Morgantown Animal Hospital from 1993 to 1999 and Larkin Veterinary Center, West Lawn, from 1999 until 2004.
She has seventeen years of experience caring for dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, hedgehogs and other small animals. She has served as president for both the Mid-Atlantic States Association of Avian Veterinarians and the Schuylkill Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Nelson lives in Morgantown with husband Mike and children Chris, 15, and Emily, 10. Her pets include a Jack Russell Terrier named Tucker, cats Zip and Buttercup and Lucky, a cockateil named Buddy, a lizard, two tree frogs, two horses and four ponies.
