Harold Zeiset was recently elected president of the Goodville Fire Company.
Other officers chosen for the year 2001 are First Vice President Norman Zimmerman, Secretary William Shirk, Treasurer Donald Steffy and Chairman of Directors Norman Zimmerman.
Serving as line officers will be Fire Chief Menno Martin, Deputy Chief Dale Zimmerman, Assistant Chief Earl Martin, Captain 2 Phillip Martin, Rescue/EMS Captain Harold Zeiset, Chief Engineer Brian Dieter, Training Officer Earl Martin and Fire Police Captain William Shirk.
Goodville Fire Company responded to more t han 250 calls in the past year. This includes fire and rescue calls, plus the QRS for medical assistance.
Goodville's equipment includes two pumpers, a 6,000-gallon tanker, a heavy rescue truck and a quick response (QRS) unit that provides medical care until an ambulance can respond.
During the past year members completed many hours of training. Classes included vehicle rescue, pump and tanker operation, fire police and Emergency Medical Services.
Throughout the year the fire company holds several fund raising activities including ham and chicken suppers, the first Saturday in May and the second Saturday in November, plus a Community Yard Sale the third Saturday in May.
For 2001, they are planning a fourth Lawn and Garden Auction in April.
Officials of the fire company extended their appreciation for the response from the community for their 2000 fund drive.
Goodville also acknowledged the support given to the fire company by local businesses that allow their volunteers to respond to calls during working hours.
