According to district Superintendent Terrance L. Furin, Ph.D., "We wrote a plan for the future that was not grant dependent."

He explained that educators today need to recognize how dramatic and fast changes take place in information technology, and "we need to create for the future or we'll be pushed around by forces over which we have no control."

Karen K. Florentine, Ed. D., director of personnel and curriculum at OJR, led the development and writing of the grant proposal. The overall goal was to examine and develop the role of education relative to the delivery capabilities of technology in ways consistent with the OJR mission statement.

Four primary areas were addressed in the proposal.
