Excitement is building for the 19th annual Tel Hai Retirement Community golf tournament according to Development Department Director, Renny Magill.
The event, scheduled on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at noon, will be held this year at the Honey Brook Golf Course. Registration for the event has been brisk and the 144 player limit filling the single flight event has reached its limit. Sponsorship opportunities are still available.
To date, nearly 25 new sponsors have joined the event. The overall dollars raised from sponsorships reflects a 40 percent increase over last year's total. There are three premium sponsors for this year's event.
The Abundant Caring tournament sponsor is HealthFirst Benefits. The Taste of Home meal sponsor is Honey Brook Pharmacy. Paul Risk Associates are the Friend of Residents cart sponsor.
A new addition to this year's event is the introduction of the Tel Hai Cup. The foursome with the overall lowest score will be named the winners. They will be photographed with the trophy, and the Tel Hai Cup and winning foursome's picture will be displayed throughout the year in the community's main lobby.
Following the event, golfers will enjoy a Hawaiian Luau complete with barbecue pig roast, chicken and beef kabobs and coconut shrimp. This year, the public can purchase tickets to attend the meal only for $30. To reserve your spot at the feast, please call the Tel Hai Development office at 610-273-9333, ext. 2036.
Monies raised from the event will support Tel Hai's Care Assurance Fund. This fund is designated to directly support residents in the retirement community who require financial assistance in the face of declining resources.
Like other continuing care retirement communities, Tel Hai faces a $1.9 million dollar gap in uncompensated care for health care services in this fiscal year. Donations to the Care Assurance Fund take on an even more significant role as a result.
