The Class of '01 has moved the tassel from one side of the mortar board to the others as its members have completed another rite of passage in this experience called life.
High school graduation is the culmination of four years worth of joy, sorrow, accomplishment, even a failure or two. In that short time, a young person has moved into the ranks of womanhood or manhood and into a new and more serious set of responsibilities and opportunities.
Peering over the shoulder of each high school principal at each commencement is the future, ready with new challenges and new traumas that will try the patience and even the souls of our young men and women.
Energized with the learning, spirit and experience of this rite of passage, they are able to stand up and say to the future, "Bring it on.'
As the applause and the strains of "Pomp and Circumstance' fade away, and the hugs and kisses of congratulations become cherished memories, it will become important for these graduates to focus on the next phase of their lives. Some will continue on to college; some will join the work force. All will continue to build on the foundations they have constructed here in the Tri County region.
We add our applause and send congratulations to each and every graduating senior in this region (and to those preparing to enter middle school and high school in the fall as well). There can be only one Class of '01. And that's you. Take a bow.
