While Philadelphia and much of Southeastern Pennsylvania was blanketed with eight inches of snow on Saturday, Dec. 30, our immediate tri-county area escaped with around an inch of the white stuff. Expectations for a heavy snowfall fizzled, but the dire predictions of a powerful winter storm drove areas residents into a buying frenzy. Area businesses reported heavy traffic as people bought nearly every available snow shovel, snow blower, pair of boots and food items in preparation for the storm that wasn't.
