ELVERSON - The Twin Valley girls tennis team is expecting a competitive season out of a young team and a new coach, with eyes on going deep into the county playoffs.
Head coach Tim DiNoto, who's taking over for one year for coach Lisa Duncan, expects week-to-week improvement from the varsity squad, which will be fronted by sophomore No. 1 McCalee Corson and junior No. 2 Courtney Less.
"Coach Duncan has spent the last few years growing a new program and I want to make sure we keep heading in the right direction," DiNoto said. " I have spent countless hours preparing myself and trying to keep the same philosophy of coach Duncan."
This year's varsity team consists of 10 players, three of them seniors, and DiNoto said that he expects each of the players to get better as the season continues.
"I look forward to seniors Cory Urkuski and Kelsey Neilson [improving] and [moving] up the ranks [to] lead the team throughout the season," he said.
The team faces tough matches from familiar opponents Blue Mountain, Exeter and Muhlenberg.
"We hope to turn that around this season," DiNoto said. "We should compete in counties and go deep into the all flights as long as the younger girls learn and improve throughout the season."
