A 41-year-old Union Township man was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine after state police discovered the drug when they responded to a fight between the man and his brother.
Christopher W. Smith of the 300 block of Garry Road was in Berks County Prison on Wednesday in lieu of $150,000 bail on charges of manufacturing and delivering methamphetamine, simple assault and related charges.
Smith was arraigned Tuesday night in Reading Central Court before District Judge Andrea J. Book.
According to state police:
The suspect’s brother told troopers that Christopher Smith ran toward him with a wooden axe handle during a brawl around 3:35 p.m. Tuesday.
The brother said he took Smith to the ground. Smith hit his brother in the head with the wooden axe handle.
When speaking with Smith, troopers found an unspecified amount of meth and money.
The victim suffered two welts on his forehead. He was not taken to a hospital.
