West Motor Freight recently completed the acquisition of Sanger Trucking LLC, which is headquartered in Fredericksburg.The addition of 40 tractors will expand West Motor Freight's total fleet to 275. The purchase is expected to enhance West's flatbed business.
The company plans to move the management of its flatbed business from Boyertown to Fredericksburg, north of Lebanon.
Terms of the deal were not released.
"Adding capacity allows us to be more responsive to our customers who recognize the value in this expansion," said West Motor Freight President Bob Petruzzi.
"Sanger Trucking brings a professional team of drivers and customers, both of which merge well with our flatbed business."
West, which is celebrating 100 years of operations, will continue to operate its regional van business from Boyertown.
The company provides van and flatbed transportation services with a focus on shippers in the Middle Atlantic, New England and Midwestern states.
Since 2003, West has doubled the size of its fleet and currently offers services from five locations.
West Motor Freight, a division of The Evans Network of Companies, operates a fleet of more than 700 pieces of equipment with concentration in the northeast United States.
