The Hamburg Hawks girls basketball team had their three-game winning streak snapped in last Thursday's game against the Schuylkill Valley Panthers. The Hawks fell in the contest by a score of 36-23. Prior to the game, Hamburg had defeated opponents Catasauqua. Salisbury and Tuplehocken in consecutive contests.
The Hawks struggled to get anything going throughout the first half of action against the Panthers, placing only six points on the scoreboard throughout the game's first two quarters.
At the break, the Panthers were up by a score of 22-6.
In the third, the two teams tied, scoring six points apiece, and the game went into the fourth quarter with the Panthers leading the Hawks 28-12.
In the fourth, Hamburg was able to outscore Schuylkill Valley 11-7, but the Hawks were unable to overcome the large hole they had dug themselves into throughout the first three frames of the game.
Kaylie Hafer led the Hawks with eight points, achieved through making three field foals and shooting 2-4 from the free throw line.
