Oct. 22 promises to be a fun-filled day for everyone. It's Homecoming for The Kutztown Youth Football and Cheerlead-ing Association. The Kutztown Cougars are hosting the Hamburg Hawks.
KCYF&CA has many events planned for players, cheerleaders, fans, and alumni of all ages. Of course there are the games, all of which are played at the Kutztown Area High School football stadium. Flags play at 1 p.m., JV Mighty Mites go on the field at 2:30 p.m., then it's Varsity Mighty Mites at 4 p.m. Mites at 5:30 p.m., and lastly the Midgets play at 7 p.m.
What would Home-coming be without a Homecoming Court?
This year a Homecoming king and queen from the Midgets will be crowned at half time. The younger teams will crown princes and princesses during their games.
Also during halftime at each game, the teams will continue a tradition of each player giving a flower to their mother as they are recognized by name.
KCYF&CA hopes to see lots of team spirit on display. Everyone is encouraged to wear blue and white and face painting will be available. Prizes will be awarded for the best decorated cars. Anyone can enter the contest which will be judged by the Homecoming Committee. Cars will be directed to a designated area and two winners will be announced ' one between the Flags and Mighty Mites game and another between the Mites and Midgets game.
KCYF&CA anticipates solid attendance from friends and family, and extends an invitation to all KCYF&CA and East Penn Chargers alumni. There will be a table set up where attendees can sign in to determine the oldest alumnus in attendance who will be announced between the Mighty Mites and Midgets game.
