Immaculate Conception Academy, a Catholic school located in Douglassville, celebrated 100 days of school on Friday, Feb. 9.

Traditionally, this is a day a centered around the number “100.” In addition to dressing in silly, clashing clothing to celebrate the milestone, the Student Council Executive Board set a goal for the students to collect at least 100 non-perishable food items for the local food bank.

Because of the school’s commitment to community service, the student representatives believed this activity would be a perfect way to have fun while giving back to their community. So far, the students have been able to garnish 282 items, with the promise that more would be coming!

This year, the school has also been responsible for several other community service initiatives including donation drives for the Warm Coats, Warm Hearts organization and Toys for Tots, collecting monetary donations for hurricane victims, and supplying food for Thanksgiving Baskets to distributed to those in need.

The Student Council’s next project will be a Pennies for Patients Drive to benefit the Leukemia Society, which will continue throughout February. For information on how to help, visit Immaculate Conception Academy’s website www.icaberks.org or Facebook page /www.facebook.com/icaknights/
